Camping - Stanley, Idaho
Stanley, Idaho is one of Idaho's hidden gems. With a population of just 99 this town is perfect for a quiet get-away. Most people enjoy camping at Stanley's famous Redfish Lake, Stanley Lake and the Salmon River in the summer. The area surrounding Stanely has over 300 well maintained camp sites and unlimited spots to pitch a tent for the night. We have made a tradition of making a trip to Stanley for the last official "open" weekend of the year which is at the end of October. The air is crisp and the leaves are wonderfully warm colors. Stanley in October can be pretty chilly so rather than camp we prefer to do things the easy way and rent a small cabin in town. Triangle C Ranch has the cutest, coziest cabins you'll ever see. Rates are reasonable for the area and the cabin includes a front deck with chairs, small kitchenette and TV with movie rentals in the office, along with the usual amenities.
Redfish Lake Marina rentals |
Redfish lake offers all kinds of recreation that you can plan and do on your own or through the Redfish Lake Lodge. The Lodge offers bike, kayak, pontoon and all sorts of other rentals along with a Sunset Cruise around the lake, shuttle services, lodging, dining and can even cater to a wedding or other event. Rain or shine the Redfish Lodge has something to offer you, may it be bocce ball or painting from the breathtaking view from your room.
Redfish lake at sunset will make you never want to leave this quiet area and with so much to do, why would you? The lake area is scattered with well maintained camp sites with fire rings, a biking/walking trail, public bathrooms and plenty of boat ramps. If you have the ability I suggest taking your bikes with you to enjoy the paved trails or get a little crazy and hit a worn down dirt path. As always, don't forget your camera! You will regret it! The scenery here makes even a camera phone take photos you only see in magazines.
