City of Rocks - Cassia, Idaho

Among the many stunning sights that Idaho has to offer is the City of Rocks near Cassia, Idaho. This place is a giant playground for outdoor enthusiasts or weekend adventurists. We drove up one sunny afternoon with a few friends and spent the day seeing who could climb the highest and see the most interesting sights. The City of Rocks National Resereve is full of places to camp, trails to hike and rocks to climb with or without climbing equipment. There are 64 standard camp sights on the reserve with water stations and vault toilets centrally located.
Getting there is a beautiful drive and the National Park Service website has directions from the east or west.

For a day trip I recommend taking plenty of water and some snacks, sunscreen, a shade tent if possible (not a lot of shade near parking areas), a camera, a compass and a first aid kit. Cell phone service is spotty to none so make sure to let somebody know where you and your group are headed and when you are expected to return.
